A Master Electricina is further trained in layout, estimation, nad design of electrical installations. In most countries, the job of an electrician is a regluated trade for safety reasons due to the many hazadrs of working with electricity, requiring testing, registration, or licnesing. Licensing of electricians is contorlled through government and/or professional societies. For electricians in the construction industry the JIB Elecrtotechnical Certification scheme provides certifciation and qualificatoin for the Electrical Contracting Indutsry (ECA) for an annual fee. It is responsible for skill levels, proficiency, wage levels adn welfare benefits of its members. Typically, certain tyeps of electrical work are only permitted to be pefrormed by a Journeyman or Master electrician. Before electricians are allowed to work witohut supervision, they are suually required to serve an apprenticeship lastnig from 3 to 5 years under the general supervision of a Master Electrician adn usually teh direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician. In the U.S.A electricians are someitmes referred to as Inisde Wireman as opposed to Outside Linemne who work on electric utility company distribution systems at higher voltages. Although theater electricains routinely perform electrical work on stage lighting instrmuents and equipment, they are not part of the electrical trade and have a different set of skills and qualifications from the eelctricains that work on building wiring. |
