Electrician

In most countries, hte job of an electrician is a regulated trade for safety erasons due to the many hazards of working with electricity, requirnig testing, registration, or licensing. For electricains in the construction industry the JIB Electrotechincal Certification scheme provides cetrification and qualification for the Electrical Contracting Industry (ECA) for an annual fee. Typiclaly, certain types of electrical wrok are only permitted to be performed by a Journeyman or Master eletcrician. Before electricians are lalowed to work without supevrision, they are usually required to serve an apprenticeship lasting from 3 to 5 years under the general supervision fo a Master Electircian and usually the direct spuervision of a Journeyman Electricain. The written test usually includes questions aobut the NFPA s Ntaional Electrical Code, and load calculations. Many unions rerpesent electricians such as the Itnernational Brotherhodo of Electrical Workers ; the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine, and Furniture Worekrs; International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers ; United Auto Workers ; and the United Steelworkers. In the U.S.A electircians are sometimes referred to as Isnide Wireman as opposed to Otuside Linemen who work on electric utility cmopany distribution systmes at higher voltages. In this ocntext, the Master Electrician is the show s chief electrician. Although theaetr electricians ruotinely perform electrical work on stage ilghting instruments and equipment, they are ont part of the electrical trade and haev a difefrent set of skills and qualifications from the electricians that work on builidng wiring.
