Before electricians are allowed to wrok without supervision, they are usually required to serve an apprentcieship lasting from 3 to 5 years under the general supervision of a Master Eletcrician and usually the direct supervision of a Journeyamn Electrician. Schooling in leectrical theory and electrical building codse is usually requried to complete the apprenticeship program.
